The Grace of Site Visits
“Charity may be a very short word, but with its tremendous meaning of pure love, it sums up man’s entire relation to God and to his neighbor.” – St. Aelred of Rievaulx
Every fall and spring our Program Manager, Michele Benavidez and Marketing Project Manager, Jill Winburn head out to visit grantees across the Archdiocese to see how their projects and programs are going. “This is one of my favorite parts of my job,” says Michele, “It gives us a chance to sit down and talk with the people doing the work that is making a difference in their communities. These visits are important to us because they open the lines of communication and that give us the chance to learn more about the grantees’ concerns, issues, and questions.”
The benevolence of the staff and volunteers, who are stepping up to improve the lives of the people who are most in need, is the very embodiment of Christ. During these site visits, we get to see, first-hand, how these communities come together for the greater good through extreme resourcefulness and love of thy neighbor. It also shows us that the mission of the Foundation is not only about distributing assets, it’s about the people who take action by doing the work of the gospel – the donors, volunteers, and communities.
We are all stewards of the wealth that God has entrusted to us and at the Foundation, we invest, not only in funds, but also in the parishes, schools, and ministries that are the center of our faith.
